Alina Venereo Sanchez is the Chief Executive Officer at VVector Bio. Alina has a B.S. from University of Havana and received her Ph.D. degree in Chemical engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal where she focused on improving the manufacturing process to increase yields of influenza virus-like particles (VLP). She has over 15 years of experience in the manufacturing of cell and gene therapy viral vectors (adenovirus, lentivirus and adeno-associated virus AAV) mainly from HEK-293 cells both adherent and suspension culture. Alina has previous experience with the production of other biological products like recombinant proteins from different cell hosts, CHO cells, VERO cells; and VLPs from 293 cells and Baculovirus-insect cells. She served as a GMP technology transfer specialist at C3i, a cell therapy manufacturing facility in Montreal. Prior to VVector Bio, Alina was founder and Chief Bioengineering Officer at Cura Therapeutics, a biotech company focused on developing innovative immunotherapies to cure cancer. Her leadership and entrepreneurial journey were strengthened by taking part of the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship, where she completed the McGill Lean Startup Program and the McGill X-1 Accelerator 10-weeks intensive training for entrepreneurs.
