Omar is Research Associate at the Viral Vectors and Vaccines Bioprocessing Group, Bioengineering Department, McGill University, Canada, from 2017 to the present. Postdoctoral fellow and Research Associate at the Immuno-Virology Lab, BioMed Research Center, Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada, from 2014 to 2017. Expertise in the following areas: Design and production of recombinant subunit and viral vector-based vaccines; engineering of mammalian cells, yeast and bacteria for heterologous protein expression; design and production of chimeric virus-like particles in large-scale production systems. Development and optimization of batch and fed-batch bioprocesses in bioreactors for the production of various antiviral vaccines and gene delivery purposes. Process control and monitoring, scale-up, downstream processing, analytical methods and development of viral clearance studies. Molecular and cellular immunology, evaluation of humoral and cell-mediated specific immune responses, host-pathogen interaction, immunophenotyping of T cell populations and assessments on the role of different T cell populations during viral infections. Design, conduction and assessment of pre-clinical trials and clinical trials. Design and implementation of standard operating procedures. Bioinformatics and statistics.
