Omar Farnos is Director of Innovation, Research and Development at VVector Bio. He has a PhD. from the University of Havana and post-doctoral experience that includes the McGill University Department of Bioengineering, in Canada. His expertise covers from the molecular design of a variety of biomolecules, recombinant proteins, vaccines, chimeric VLPs and viral vectors (adenoviruses, AAVs, lentiviruses) to their manufacturing process, including upstream optimization, scale-up and downstream processing. He has worked with adherent and suspension cells and operation in bioreactors, including HEK293, Vero cells, MDCK and insect cells. He has worked in the preparation and implementation of standard operating procedures. He is also experienced in cell line development and with the P. pastoris yeast expression system. He has participated in the design or conduction of pre-clinical and clinical trials. He is also expert in the evaluation of humoral and cell-mediated specific immune responses during experimental trials, and in the immunophenotyping of immune cell populations. His expertise also comprises the development and implementation of analytical techniques required to guarantee the quality attributes of products produced at VVector Bio.
