Rafael is a postdoctoral fellow at MITACS Elevate program in École Polytechnique de Montréal (Canada), Chemical Engineering Department, from 2022 to the present. He was a postdoctoral researcher at Viral Vectors and Vaccines Bioprocessing Group, Bioengineering Department, McGill University, where he worked on a project related to NDV and VSV-vaccines against Sars-Cov-2. In his PhD, Rafael investigated the expression of human coagulation factor protein in serum-free suspension adapted human cell lines to treat hemophilia. He has experience in recombinant protein production in adherent and suspension cell cultures, viral vectors production, cell line development, development and optimization of batch bioreactor processes, monitoring and controlling process, quality parameters, analytical methods, design and implementation of standard operating procedures.
